Yay! I did it!
Okay, I was inspired, doing those last minute entries for staitestills and looking at Jewel Staite (so pretty!), I decided to use a variation of the header that didn't win the last challenge there. Again...

This time, I decided to change the whole color scheme - since the default one was getting too boring. It was fun, not so much of a change of layout, but it does look like something pretty new, right? =P

Now, let me throw a few cookies for my muse, because I really need her help with a few more icons tonight! XD

Oh, please let me know if you see anything weird (specially color wise) on the layout... I'm always afraid I forgot some corner of the code somewhere... XD

Yay- you did it! And it was so fast. God, I envy this skill of yoursbut in a good way, I've seen you also changedthe font color of your sidebar, how and where did you that? I got such pain in the ass trying to find where to change that, lol XD
It's a great header! Such beatiful artwork :D

I kind of cheated a little when changing the colors... XD

What I did. I opened the original layout on photoshop (with print-screen and pasting it on a new document). There, with the "eyedropper tool", I started selecting the colors I wanted changed (for the boxes and background) and copied the hex code (#------) onto a notepad file.

Then, on the original CSS-code, I found the tags that says "a:link" and "a:hover". I copied the hex colors I found in there as well, to the notepad.

Then, on photoshop, I select the colors I wanted for the new layout. On the notepad (or excel, if you're fancy) =P you start to put a column for the old color and the new color... like this:

Old => New

c2cde0 => e4e4e4

a9b3c4 => 191919
cfd4db => d1d1d1
919bad => 6b6b6b

5674b9 => 8d776b
7aa1f8 => e5d3c9

Now, open your CSS code on notepad or word (or similar program). What you need to do (the cheating part), select the old color and simply substitute it for the new color. Using the program "substitute, or switch, or I don't know it in english because I use it in portuguese" it gets easy to not miss any part of the code... And you don't really need to understand the whole code to change the colors uniformly.

No worries, I'll try that but just one more thing: did you change (with the same colors) all the parts that said background, boxes, links, "a:link" and "a:hover"?

I'm sorry I bother you with this but you're my salvation at changing layouts! :D

Don't worry... sorry it took me some time to reply... just finished another batch of icons for icontests... lol

Okay. I changed all the same code for another code. Like this: all light blue boxes (#c2cde0) for pale gray (#e4e4e4). All dark blue (#a9b3c4) for dark gray (#191919). And so on and so on... I didn't see what part on the layout I was changing per se, only that I was replacing the colors... everywhere there were that code (that same light blue and that same dark blue).

For instance, if I wanted to change specifically the darker color of individuals post/comments background, that technique wouldn't help... I would need to study the code and find out specifically for that part of the code... and I didn't have the time (I may come back for it latter, because I want to change a fell more things).

Hope that helps a little more...

Yay- you finished at least, hopefully you'll make me happy by entering sg men later too!

And can't wait to see your next 20in20 entry for stargate20in20!

Whatever you explain me about it makes me understand it a bit more *not so good enough to make it by myself*

I like all the headers you have done (at least the ones I know), you're so creative with them and you make me want to improve my way of making headers!

I will join sgmen for sure! It's the one icontest I'm planing for always joining... I was going to do the icons for the icontest yesterday, but I'm glad for the extension... this way, I ended up doing some icons for another icontest that ends today.

And I'm scared of this stargate20in20... there aren't many images of Lorne around... and I know I'm bitting more than I can chew this month (meaning time).

And thank you! It's so different to make headers/wallpapers/artworks and icons... the strange thing is, I used to do bigger graphics better than icons some years ago... nowadays, it's like I forgot how to work something big... =P
